Indian Corn

Our social studies unit has been quite interesting for our students. It has been fun to watch them actually contemplate what life must have been like for the original colonists in Jamestown and Plymouth.

Imagine the children acting out the scenes as they pretended to farm the land, hunt for dinner, and build their homes. They were cracking me up! My favorite part was when they pretended to be the indians who wanted to trade their corn for the colonists' copper. Very good bargaining skills!

In art, we made some "indian corn" in honor of the first Native Americans who were so kind to help out the settlers in Jamestown and Plymouth.
